There are some lists circulating around regarding Kosher for Passover products. Even though the lists may be halachically acceptable, community members are advised to consult our Rabbis in this regard, since our community, as a minhag, has always observed a very strict standard for Kosher for Passover products. How much Pasta do you have left? Drop off all your extra, UNOPENED food packages, now through Sunday, April 13, 2014 (8 p.m. deadline),at Ohr Esther (YMJC).Island Harvest, a Long Island anti-hunger charity, will be collecting all the Chametz food and distributing it to needy families on Long Island. The donation items needs to be non-perishable (nothing that spoils easily or need refrigeration) food items in UNOPENED packages, and in good condition. Great Neck Synagogue and Young Israel have organized a community-wide Hametz Burning with the approval of Great Neck Parks District. All community members are invited to burn their Hametz there in a safe manner. The Hametz Burning will take place in Kings Point Park entrance from Steamboat Rd., Monday morning April 14th from 8:00am to 11:00 am (morning before Pesach). A late Minyan has been organized at the MYC Office at 33 Great Neck Rd in Great Neck. The walking distant Minyan from the Train Station will take place during weekdays from Mon. to Thu. Mincha will begin at 7:00 pm followed by Arvit.

A Didan has been organized for the late Mr. Ya’aqob Bitton (Ya’aqob ben Yehuda z’l), Father of Rabbi Yosef Bitton. It will take place this Sunday, April 6 at Shaare Shalom Synagogue with Mincha at 7:00 p.m. followed by Arvit and Dibre Torah.

Synagogue will be collecting unused, unopened, non-perishable food for Island Harvest, a local food pantry serving thousands of poor families on Long Island. The collection will begin on April 6th through April 13. The drop off point will be Ohr Esther (130 Steamboat Road).
